More and more of us seem to be taking the musical plunge. Helped by the influence of television choirmaster Gareth Malone and series such as Glee, there are now some 25,000 choirs across the UK. So, given it makes you feel good, and improves your health, why not join in and sing?   – BBC iWonder

Whether you sing in the shower, with your children in the car or on the football terraces, singing is fun. Thousands of us are joining choirs to give us more opportunities to get that sense of enjoyment. But singing in a group is more than just a bit of fun. It’s been scientifically proven that it is good for your health: from getting more oxygen into the blood, to increasing the flow of feelgood hormones, such as endorphins and oxytocin, and improving mental health, singing can have a positive impact on a range of physical and mental conditions, including depression and lung disease. Singing in a group makes you feel more confident and secure.  According to the British Lung Foundation, singing improves your health-related quality of life, reduces isolation and loneliness, helps improve your posture and increases the strength of your lungs and your voice.

So we are delighted to announce The Big PA Club Sing, led by Choir Leader Darla Eno, which rounds off our day at The Ask Abbie Show and is a perfect and appropriate finish to our Wellbeing seminars.

Darla is the Choral Leader of the Love Music Junior Choir in Edinburgh.  She has been singing all her life and in recent years has focused particularly on community singing and creating opportunities for others to come together to experience the nourishing power of group singing.

During Darla’s Big Sing, you will have the chance to explore your voice, move your body and sing some harmonised songs. “This will be a perfect way to close the day,” she says, “and start your weekend with a smile! Don’t say you can’t sing – everyone can – and all abilities are so welcome!
